THANK YOU XAVIER AND HUBERT!

Missionaries of the Poor are truly blessed with such wonderful volunteers. Recently, we had 2 volunteers from the states, Xavier and Hubert. Xavier started a non profit which helps fund specific projects for the needy. They had been working with Missionaries of the Poor in both Haiti and Jamaica over the years and this was their first visit to Uganda. The goal, seeing what projects needed funding and also to see about future volunteers coming through.

Xavier teaching the boys about the "good wolf" and the
"bad wolf" inside each of us...which one will
you feed????

Xavier meeting Paul
who is in desperate need of a custom wheelchair

It was a pleasure meeting these two very caring gentlemen. The children LOVED them! I remember coming to Busega following a morning of errands only to find a group of kids fighting to sit on Hubert's lap or hold his hand.

Xavier meeting " Rasheed with the beautiful eyes"
as I like to call him

Ibra and Xavier
Ibra is also in desperate need of a custom chair
his tone makes it difficult to do anything but lie down

Though blind, Bishop can push a wheelchair if he can reach the wheels
They worked at both the Good Shepherd Home as well as Busega and most certainly I put both of them to work. We discussed the dire need for wheelchairs and specialty seating for the kids, especially the ones that have been bed-bound. To spend most of the day in bed as a child is pure torture! Patricia and I have been trying different tubs and chairs, but these cannot safely accommodate the needs of these very contracted and spastic/flaccid children.

Peter, forever the camera hog!

Hubert working with Shaffique
Shaffique LOVING it!

and learning how to do Physiotherapy!

To my delight and surprise, Xavier's organization donated a large sum of money to help obtain the needed equipment for the kids AND also to go towards the production of the music and music videos for the boys!

HOW CAN I BEGIN TO THANK THESE 2 ANGELS!

They were sent from God to answer the prayers I had been praying...I had NO IDEA how I was going to manage getting the wheelchairs for these boys....God answered my prayers through them! You never know just how much you can change the life of even one child....
